Now that you have a site plan, domain name and a hosting plan, you have the pieces you need to begin designing and building your web site.

When you rent a business space, it is bare, unattractive and unusable "as is" - you have to decorate and outfit it for business. Similarly, site hosting vendors provide a simple greeting page, but you will have to provide your own custom pages to create a real web site.

No one likes to shop in a cluttered store - this is true for web sites, as well. A web site should be neatly organized, attractive and easy to navigate.

Another factor to be aware of is that visitors use many different brands of web browsers. An improperly designed site may not work with different browsers, thus driving away some visitors from your site.

An estimated 60-70% of homes still use dialup Internet access - pages and graphics need to be designed to download FAST.
